How to Enroll

 

To be eligible to apply for incentives from a NYS energy company follow the steps outlined below. Please note all steps are required to become a NYS Clean Heat participating contractor.

Step 1. Energy Company Participation Agreement(s)

Complete the Agreement for each energy company you plan to submit incentive applications to:

Step 2. You should have electronic copies of the following documentation on-hand before starting your submission.

Air Source Heat Pump Installers

Air Source Heat Pump Designers (1 of the following)

  • An active NYS Professional Engineering license
  • An active NYS Registered Architect license

Ground Source Heat Pump Installers

  • Certificate of Training from IGSHPA (IGSHPA accredited installer)

Ground Source Heat Pump Designers for systems <300,000 BTu/h (1 of the following)

  • Certificate of Training from IGSHPA (IGSHPA accredited installer)
  • An active Certified GeoExchange Designer (“GCD”) certificate from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)

Ground Source Heat Pump Designers for systems ≥300,000 BTu/h (1 of the following)

  • An active Certified GeoExchange Designer (“GCD”) certificate from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
  • An active NYS Professional Engineering license
  • An active NYS Registered Architect license

Ground Source Heat Pump Driller (1 of the following, plus NYC requirements if applicable)

  • Registration and Certification for open-loop geothermal well drilling by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
  • National Ground Water Association Certified Vertical Closed-Loop Driller (CVCLD) certificate
  • Certificate of Insurance as per NYC DEP Rules Concerning Drilling and Excavation (NYC only)
  • Acknowledgement of NYC DEP Rules Concerning Drilling and Excavation (NYC only)

Direct Exchange Installer

  • Direct Exchange Ground Source Heat Pump Manufacturer certificate

Use the following naming convention for each appropriate document. Examples are below:

  • certificate of insurance.pdf
  • training certificate.pdf
  • W9.pdf

*Failure to include these items in your application may result in delays.

Step 3. Complete the Participating Contractor Application

There is only one joint-utility form covering all NYS energy companies. When you are ready, click the Begin Application button below to complete the Contractor Application and Energy Company Participation Agreement(s).
